The present thesis introduces the coverage and capacity planning for WCDMA, as defined by 3GPP. WCDMA has used some new technologies to improve its radio access ability. These new technologies have brought about vast changes within the network planning, implementation, and optimization. With WCDMA planning a whole different philosophy applies, the relative simplicity involved in the planning of 2G, due to the finite parameters, is now not applicable. The planning of a WCDMA network is now a complex balancing act between coverage and capacity simultaneously. This thesis consists of three parts: firstly, using the static method, it is possible to calculate the distance of base station's coverage. Site densities and actual locations can be found. Secondly, static simulations can be used for regional validation , it is important to get the relationship between capactiy and coverage for uniform service. At last, through the utilization of Monte Carlo algorithms , we can provide the most accurate statistical predictions for various services . This thesis provides some methods to solve the problems on simulation , one is about the propagation tunning for WCDMA , the other is using a new call admission control algorithm to control the system loads . These will result in more accurate predictions and provide references for the construction of WCDMA.
