Backing on the Video Networked Monitoring System which has been running in reality, a mechanism for the wireless Mesh network's access to the system is studied and designed in this paper, which can enable the application of the system to integrate with wireless network perfectly and achieve the layout of monitoring spots anytime and monitoring with no blind spots.First the shortage of fixed-line video monitoring system is analyzed and the necessity and feasibility of wireless network's access to video monitoring system is indicated in this paper. After the comparison of all wireless communication ways usually used in monitoring system, the wireless Mesh network(WMN) is chosen as the access network and the key technologies which make WMN more suitable for video monitoring are proposed. After that, the video monitoring system model and frame based on WMN is designed and its functional modules are described. Meanwhile, the authority management, routing ways and resource access algorithms involved when wireless Mesh monitoring spots and wireless Mesh users add to the system are analyzed and designed in details, including the design of command protocol and information data format consistency in wired way and wireless way. At the same time, the potential problems which may appear when wireless network is used in video monitoring system are analyzed theoretically and corresponding solutions are proposed.At last, the related developments of the media streaming server and the user calling terminal in the model are accomplished according to the above designs, and the calling test is implemented under experimental environment in this paper. The test results shows that wireless user terminal based on the above designs can access the networked monitoring system successfully to call for the images, which laid the foundation for promoting the application of the system across wireless network and can be learned to other fields which have the same demands.
