With people’s increasing demand for information, wireless local area networktechnology has penetrated into every corner of our life. Wireless mesh networks(WMN) has also gradually developed, and has aroused widespread concern. WMN isdeveloped and evolved from Ad hoc network, followed with features of the Ad hocnetwork such as dynamic extension, ad hoc, self-configuration and self-management,etc. Due to the limits of bandwidth and fault-tolerance, the traditional wireless LANcannot provide guarantees for high quality video and multimedia transmission, andcurrent cable video monitoring also has many defects such as, easily influenced bygeographical location, wiring difficulty, fixed monitoring point and highcomprehensive cost. WMN provides high efficient, flexible, and reliable networkcarrying mode, video monitoring based on WMN can be widely used in securitymonitoring, traffic monitoring, industrial control, home monitoring and many otherfields.Firstly, the related technologies of WMN are briefly introduced in this paper, theadvantages of WMN in video monitoring and the key technology of the WMN videomonitoring data bearer network are also discussed. Then several classic algorithmsabout the routing protocol is introduced, we focus on OLSR (Optimized Link StateRouting) routing protocol, and analyzes the shortcomings and defects of the routingprotocol. On this basis, this paper proposes an improved MOLSR protocol, whichimproves MPR set selection algorithm and combines MPR minimizes redundancy andthe load of each node, to avoid the original algorithm that may lead to network nodeoverload, network congestion situation. Routing algorithm by testing improved thequality of network service, and provided guarantee for reliable video transmission.Based on the implementation of WMN video monitoring system, using the latestthird generation IP video surveillance, WMN is established based on the OpenWrtdevelopment environment. In terms of hardware implementation, WSN send theimproved MOLSR protocol running on embedded routing node, and let theMJPG-streamer video server consuming less CPU and lightweight graft to the currentrouting node. The whole system collect information from webcam camera, andtransmit the information out in the form of flow through the network based on IP. Theclient receiving video information is based on Windows platform and developed byC#language, it can multi-channel display monitor screen in real-time and smoothly. Finally, this paper tested the structures of the system, the established WMNnetwork has better performance, and the improved routing protocol allows networkoptimization are obtained in the network throughput, network delay etc. The wholevideo monitoring system is stable, normal, and has high reliability and goodexpansibility, which can meet the requirements of digital video monitoring field andbe popularly used in the field of video surveillance.
