Video monitoring system is a very intuitive monitoring method widely used in many situations. But the transmission problem under some special circumstances such as the construction site is still a big difficulty. The traditional wired video watch-control manifests its weak points not only in the difficulty of wiring but also in the fixed location of the monitoring points. This subject puts forward real time monitoring in the construction site by applying the wireless Mesh network and the digitalized video monitoring technology. An analysis of the key performance indicator of the Mesh applied in the video watch control is made and the digitalized video monitoring system is designed and developed.The paper introduces the wireless Mesh network first. An experiment and test platform under the practical application environment is built based on the wireless Mesh equipment available. The paper puts emphasis on the analysis of the key performance indicator concerned with video application such as throughput rate and delay. Meanwhile, the author gives a suggestion to the feasibility analysis applied in the video transmission platform in the Mesh network. Then the digitalized video monitoring software based on the IP network which suits for the wireless transmission is studied and developed. The system software applies for the Client-Server Mode. It realizes the function of remote control and the real time network transmission of the video stream. Front monitor point gathers compresses and carries on video flow through the camera and network video server. In addition, it carries on receiver of video data and realizes wireless network video supervisory through the video server in the supervisory center. The client could carry out the network monitoring control through internet exploration or the installment of the client side in the scope of the wireless coverage of the Mesh network or through the Internet. At last, the reliability and the extendibility of the whole working system will be tested through the cases of the application on construction site. The actual effect of operation will be realized through the system. The video monitoring system based on the Mesh network could satisfy the request of the construction site, which can also be put into use in related fields.
