With the development of computer science, communication, sensor and IC technology, the concept of"Internet of things"appears more and more. The integration of sensor and wireless network technology makes the usage of sensors expands greatly. The hardware of wireless sensor network nodes is always simple that only has radio sender/receiver, controller and a few storage units, so it is a resource limited system. At the same time, a wireless sensor network usually aims at a special application so that there is none general MAC protocol which is efficient in all the applications. It often improves used MAC protocol or develops a new one for the goal of small, efficient code of protocol.I-MAC protocol is proposed for the wireless sensor network with cluster, which is integrated the synchronization that used in the contention-based S-MAC protocol and lower power listening that used in the division protocol, it will reduce the contention in the radio channel and save the energy consumption. It is realized in the TinyOS environment and CC2430 nodes. The open-source TinyOS is a operation system that especially for wireless sensor network, and it is developed in nesC language that can generate small hex codes for the limited resource of wireless sensor network nodes. TinyOS is component-based for the convenient development of new applications and expansion of new hardware platform, and more and more researchers and users of TinyOS are making it growing rapidly. Realizing the I-MAC on the CC2430 nodes and simulating in the NS2 proves it has better performence than the S-MAC in the wireless sensor network with cluster for the combination of synchronization, low-power listening and the design of cluster-head-first.
