The rotary kiln is the center equipment in the cement production, and it has vital significance in cement production that the kiln works efficiently. The rotary kiln works in the circumstances with big strength and high temperature for long. Axis straightness badly will give the supporting files uneven pressure, making cylinder and the internal kiln lining forced alternating stress, often leads to lining brick falling means "red kiln". It will also make supporting roller turning or fracture damages,make cylinder cracked,make rolling circle plate falling,make kiln head and tail sealing badly,make fire accidents on motor, and so on. All of that will reduce service lives of various components, making the kiln stopped frequently, directly impact completion of the operation rate and yield. Alignment degree of kiln axis is the most important indicator to measure the kiln mechanical running condition. At present, the rotary axis measurement basically is online inspection, periodically tested once, that can not show rotary axis movements in real-time. Therefore, this paper designed a fast and accurate dynamic monitoring system of rotary kiln, which can show rotary axis movements in real-time, that would make cement factory taking the appropriate maintenance measures in time to improve the efficiency of the operation of rotary kiln, and has great significance and economic value.Due to the kiln's operating environment, cost, and safety and other factors, making the axis dynamic monitoring equipment of rotary kiln is still in the stage of research at present on domestic and abroad. This paper analysis the domestic and international research of rotary axis measurement technology, analysis and comparison those methods, and discuss the feasibility of rotary kiln axis online monitoring system, developed the on-line monitoring design.In this paper, we analysis and chooses the monitoring methods and location of rotary axis monitor as well as its monitoring principles, and both formulas have been introduced and derived. This paper also introduces the on-line monitoring system for rotary kiln axis on details, including equipment selection, installation components and positioning device design. In the monitoring system, we send measuring data Collected from rangefinder by GPRS DTU with wireless network to the monitoring center computer. In this way, we can directly collect field data, show rotary axis dynamic curve in real-time and calculate deformation on the monitoring center computer. In the design of software, we use the LabVIEW from NI company. This software has much better man-machine contact surface, we can get the measurement result and curves conveniently.
