As a famous newspaper in shanghai, Shen Bao recorded the social life and every aspect of different times from the later Qing Dynasty and before the liberation of China, which reflects the epitome of modern Chinese society. Shen Bao, of its own huge amount of information, provided a variety of rich resources for future generations. In 1920, Yang Yinhang worked for Shen Bao as the chief editor and did some counsel services concurrently. In the same year, Yang opened supplement Common Sense. Unfortunately, the academic field has no systematic study on Yang's Common Sense. The Thesis, on the basis of literature study, would try to study the characteristic of the text, the columns and the section of manuscript of Common Sense; to analyze what kind of common sense and knowledge it would communicate to the common people, how to express the specific knowledge to the public, how the columns of the supplements reflect the unhealthy tendencies and concern for the nation and the people, how to improve public culture of modernity and influence the public cultural life. In 1920, Yang Yinhang presided Common Sense, impenetrating his thought in the supplement, pointing out the social problems, promoting democracy and laws, all which make Common Sense win a good reputation.The first chapter sorts out the research status of shenbao and Yang Yin Hang, the second chapter focuses on the founder of supplement Common Sense in the background, highlighting the intention of Yang Yin Hang, and its part to set up and development process. The third chapter the features of Common Sense. Chapter IV to analyze the articles of changping, focusing on characteristics of Yang Yin Hang comments. Chapter V after "WUSI" focusing on the relationship between the Enlightenment intellectuals and Common Sense.Common Sense, as the supplement of Shen Bao, lasted only seven years, but its comments and texts, just as the encyclopedia, shows rational intelligence and emotional light. Although the literariness of the supplement can not be compared to others, but the popularization of the common sense is outstanding at that time. Common Sense is a comprehensive supplement for the citizen class, which is progressive, advancing with the times and popularized. The characteristics of Common Sense would offer some references for the development of the supplements nowadays.
