This paper is the Application and research of the automation control for 60 KTPA Acrylic Acid Project in Shanghai Huayi Acrylic Acid Co., Ltd. Propylene, air are used as feedstocks in this unit. Reaction occurs in the reactors under certain operating conditions and catalysts, and acrylic acid is produced through rectification process etc. Multiple reactions and rectifications take place in the unit with complicated conditions and high level of control accuracy. The paper focuses on the design and realization of DCS control system for 60 KTPA Acrylic Acid Project. It also briefly introduces the development of DCS in the power system。This paper analyzes the process characteristics of Acrylic Acid Project, makes the general modification scheme, and introduces the software design, hardware design and software configuration. Presents the actual application of the FSC system from HONEYWELL on Acrylic Acid Project, Interlock control is an important means to ensure the safe operation of the unit and the safety of personnel. Propylene in the unit are flammable and explosive substances. And the products acrylic acid have high tendency of polymerization. Equipment and piping would be blocked and safe production would be impacted in case of self polymerization. Therefore it is necessary to provide safety interlock control to ensure that the unit is in safe operation status.It plays an important role in long-term, safe and steady operation of the complex. This article from the production reality, the production problems, combined with instrument selection need attention, to determine a reasonable selection of programs. Under the precondition of meeting the process measurement operating conditions and process monitoring, instrument advanced in technology, reliable in use, convenience in maintenance and installation, reasonable in cost will be selected. It is introduced that the real-time database PI system has been used in the integration and application of production data in the universal automation system for system structure design of Acrylic Acid company, data treatment and storage, interface design, development of flow sheet picture, report sheet design and SQC application. The system has realized the collection and share of real-time production data in enterprises. It has provided the great advantages for production management and policy decision.
