This thesis analyses all the reports involving in Liaoning province in the samples which are taken from from 2007 to 2009.It finds out and sums up the features of Liaoning image in the newspaper, and puts forward some suggestions for Liaoning image-building in the mass media by comparing with the reporting features about Guangdong and Shandong province.This thesis is based on the regional image-building theory, the frame theory, imitated environment and inflexible impression theories. It uses literature-studying, text-studying and data statistics analyzing as research methods. It refers to the 4y ears'government work reports of Liaoning province from which it extracts the basis and the expectancy of Liaoning image. This thesis strives to do the research clearly, strictly and scientifically.It finds out that the reports about Liaoning features in six aspects as follows:Firstly, there are a large amount of typical figure reports which are centralized in a short period and stressed to an important position. Secondly, there are a large amount of economic and political reports which are also stressed to an important position. Third, the reports about Liaoning coastal economic belt and old industrial base hold important pages. Forth, some regions have bright features and occupy important positions. Fifth, the reports of ecological province and harmonious province conform to the image expectancy in a certain degree. Sixth, the creative province subject is hardly reported in the samples.By drawing lessons from Guangdong and Shandong for our reference, Liaoning can try the following tactics to improve its covering frequency and good image in mass media, such as setting up public agenda, undertaking large contest and conferences, strengthening the hook-up between different media and so on.
