Regional image is the objective conditions and the show of cultural connotation in regional’s development. The audiences decode the received information and feedback. It has the characteristics of subjective construct. In a period of time, the media had misread and misrepresented the image of Henan. Society also prejudiced the image of Henan. Henan had suffered the unspeakable humiliation. Regional image is a comprehensive reflection of the economic and social development. It impacts on people’s self-confidence and pride. It influences the activities of geographical development and productive forces and the breadth and depth of reform and open. It also impacts the awareness and reputation of region. Regional image is a huge dynamic role on the development environment. Henan has a long and glorious history of cultural resources. Many cultural icons which represent the image of Henan were born here. Cultural icon is a symbol of the spirit of regional image.This paper attempts to use the theoretical background of the national image and regional image. Use the perspective of semiotics to incorporate the study of cultural icons. Analyze the case study of Henan province. Research and discuss on the phenomenon of Henan image. Probe further into the current situation of Henan image and come up with strategies to change this situation. Propose the best representative of Henan province. Put forward the more suggestions and opinions of cultural icons for the development of Henan. It will have far-reaching implications for enhancing the image of Henan; promote social development in Henan Province and the Central Plains. |
