The Design Of Library Information Management System Based On Visual Basic

At present, R&D of the domestic and foreign university library management information system has reached a good level. However, these systems are mainly for the entire school, with complex procedures, over-control, lack of special functions for the middle sectors and a large number of useless functions, they are difficult to be applied into the middle sectors represented by the departments. Moreover, books and materials of middle sectors are sharply increasing. But the collection and record of middle sectors'materials have to wait for the university's unification, which leads to a large number of updated information cannot be loaned because of no collection in time. From the management aspect, because the middle sectors are for teachers, its management requires more flexible, more convenient inquiry and mainly foucus on information efficiency, but not on security and control of books just like university management. Therefore, the univerity books management system cannot be migrated to the department and other middle sectors'management simply. To solve these problems, it's necessary to learn from the university books management experience and combine with practical work, to develop a books managemen system which can meet the middle sectors'practical needs.This thesis develops a "Library Information Management System Based on Visual Basic" combining with the management status and application requirements of library reference room of Department of Chinese of Zaozhuang University. The general design goal is to achieve Reference Room's books management systematizaion, standardization and automation, as well as centralized management on library materials. The system mainly includes development of establishment and maintenance of background database and front-end application. By analyzing users'demands, it establishes a reasonable, standardized database structure in the background server, which sets up a relatively strict checking mode of data consistency and integrity between different data tables to ensure data security and high efficiency. During client application development process, it is in line with the design principle of application programs with complete functions and easy to use. According to requirements of development and design, the paper elaborates the definition of information management system, frame work of books management information system, advantages of Visual Basic and other aspects on the basis of describing the development background and design goals. Combined with demands analysis and feasibility study of the Reference Room Management System, carefully analyzing on the system structure function, the paper designs the books database to meet the needs of the system, which build a solid basis to finish the system development. The system includes information collection, loan management, data query, system setting, usage satistics and other function modules. This system achieves in electronic information management of books in the Reference Room of the department and meets the daily needs well.With user-friendly, strong data processing capability, simple manipulation and low maintenance cost, the system in this thesis can be used in the reference rooms of other departments in the colleges and universities after modifying a few related parameters. Therefore, the system has high application and popularization value.
