Research On Application Of FTTH Optical Cables

With the rapid development of FTTH, It has become a part of people's lives. The existing FTTH network is passive optical network based on PON technology, the paper discusses the network characteristics based on EPON system, and focuses on cable products in the FTTH network.There are three kinds of wiring patterns in the existing FTTH optical cable network, namely the standard FTTH cable network pattern, the economical FTTH cable network pattern, and the transformed FTTH cable network pattern. The feeder section, distribution section and indoor section have different requirements for optical cables in the three patterns. Based on the analysis for the characteristics and requirements of different sections in the different patterns, the author concludes the requirements of various line sections for optical cables and gives the recommendation on applied optical cables for various line sections with a view to reduce the line costs and the difficulty of line construction and guarantee the line safety and maintenance simplicity.The first chapter of this paper begins with a discussion of the current situation and development trend of FTTH, and specifies that the mainstream access technology of the existing FTTH network is EPON. In the chapter two, it briefly describes several other access technologies and gets the prominent advantages of EPON through comparison, and states the working principle of EPON. The third chapter discusses the three kinds of wiring patterns of FTTH network, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages and application occasion of the three wiring patterns, and clearly presents the requirements of optical cables which the feeder section, distribution section and indoor section select and use in the various wiring patterns. The fourth chapter points out the problems people should pay attention to during optical cables design and how to make quantitative calculation and analysis, shows clearly the performance requirements of optical cables in FTTH optical cable network, recommends and analyzes the applied optical cables for various line sections such as the feeder section, distribution section and indoor section through the case of ribbon cable design. Combining with the on-site construction experience, the fifth chapter clarifies the advantages and disadvantages of aerial optical cables, their pipes and buried ways, indicates the problems people should pay attention to during the installation of optical cables. The sixth chapter gives the conclusion of this paper.
