A Research On Protecting The Chinese Ancient Books In Academic Library And The Training For Professional Staff

The Chinese ancient books have been the crystallization of our wisdom for thousands of years. As long as the development of our society, and human beings are progressing, we can not cut off history and the success of traditional culture. The ancient books which cover the history of politics, economy, cultural, military, art, humanities, geography agricultural production natural disasters and customs are very informative and valuable in terms of research and utilization. The vast majority of existing ancient books are susceptible to fire, water, entomophthora and various forms of environmental damage because they are made of paper or silk as a carrier, coupled with the mutiny of the war in the history, the preservation and circulation of ancient books have always faced many difficulties. Some people take the ancient books protection as "a career racing against time", so we can say it is a long, arduous and urgent work.In order to provide experts and scholars some related disciplines let they effectively use the ancient books to create material and spiritual wealth, the central task of workers who protect them in academic library are to protect these precious cultural heritage as much as possible. To do a good job in protecting ancient books in academic library is a sacred mission that the times entrusts to the staff .It is expected to help people establish a sense of protecting ancient books and update the concept of the protection through this research. Ancient books are non-renewable, so the good protection of ancient books is helpful to the promotion of cultural heritage, to the connection of national sentiment ,to carry forward the national spirit, and it also play an important role in establishing a safe nation and building an advanced socialist culture. Protecting and making good use of ancient books have an important realistic and far-reaching historical significance, and it is an essential requirement for implementing the scientific development concept and building a harmonious socialist society .There are few articles of the ancient books protecting and the professional training in the area of theoretical study, which is extremely detrimental to the research. So this article tries to explore the way and method in protecting the ancient books and training the professionals through practice and the theory. We take the D academic library for instance and we ought to enrich and develop the theory of the ancient books protecting and the professional training and to promote the studies of the ancient books protecting and the professional training through the theoretical research which we carried out. In this paper, we combine with the practice of the ancient books protecting examples of D academic library, then sorting out the theoretical basis for the protection of the ancient books and the training to the professionals. We focus on the problems in protection, and then propose solutions to the existing problems through the attribution analysis. The strategies that we recommended include: to change the traditional concept in protection of ancient books; to provide more resources into the work of the protection; to speed up the digitization process of ancient books; to enhance the reparations of the books; to work positively in the regeneration of ancient books;to impel the professional training of the ancient books protecting etc. We hope that these strategies can promote the protection of the ancient books of academic library effectively and smoothly, and to offer better service to the institution and education of universities.
