Protection And Utilization Of Ancient Books Collected In Library Of Henan Province

This paper aims to study the protection and use of ancient books which stored in Henan Provincial Library. Because there are some problems of Henan provincial library ancient books protection, so this paper hopes to make some suggestions to solve them. Finally, provide some ideas and prospects for the development and digitization of ancient books in Henan provincial library.There are about 500 thousand ancient books in the Henan provincial library. Since the census work of ancient books began in 2007, there have been 97 kinds of ancient books selected in the list of national precious ancient books; another 164 kinds have been selected in the list of rare ancient books in Henan province. With so many precious ancient books, Henan provincial library has great responsibility. However, the survey found that there are still some problems of the protection for ancient books in Henan provincial library. Such as inadequate facilities, lack of personnel and so on. Moreover, the digitization of ancient books in the Henan provincial library has just started, and the development and utilization of ancient books resources is not much.This paper through the following methods to detailed survey the ancient Books protection and utilization in Henan Provincial Library. Such as on the spot investigation of stacks which stored ancient books, sampling investigation of ancient books damaged, consulting the relevant literature and interviews for staff. Based on the full understanding of these conditions, this paper analyzes the causes of the problems, introduces some methods that protect and repair the ancient books, and finally gives some suggestions and prospects.In recent years, there is no paper that researched the conservation status of ancient books in Henan Provincial Library. So this paper surveys the preservation of ancient books in Henan Provincial Library, analyzes the problems with the protection work, and then gives some suggestions. This paper argues that there are several ways to solve these problems. Such as to expand the influence of ancient books protection work, improve the library preservation conditions, improve the level of staff business, take the modern and traditional combination of protection measures, speeding up the digitization of ancient books.
