Design And Implementation Of UPnP Module Of Digital Home Gateway

With maturity and application of network technology and ICT (Information Communication Technology), the technological progress of various domestic consumer electronics products has become more and more rapid. Family network technology which aims at realizing a family consumer products network and providing remote control and interactive business is gradually growing up worldwide in communications, IT (Information Technology) and home appliances, etc.The wide range family network technology involves and the fierce competitions of technical fields, lead to the focus of technical standards which are the top of the technology competition. Microsoft distributed the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) standard in 1999. The standard takes full advantage of open TCP/IP and the Distributed Network Architecture of Web technology, fulfills the complete control and data transmission among the network equipments in families, offices and public places and establishes seamless closer links and obtains broad support as well.This thesis discusses the implementation of Digital Home, the construction of Home Network and the important status of the Home Gateway, and then it gives a particular analysis to the composition and work principle of the home network standard UPnP. The thesis focuses on the goals of adding UPnP support in the Home Gateway with embedded Linux operating system to fulfill the interoperability of various equipments in the Digital Home, and presents an implementation scheme of UPnP module of digital home gateway. UPnP standard based on TCP/IP protocol, it enables the Digital Home Gateway to base on the current widespread network structure, and since UPnP has been supported by many equipment manufacturers and standardization organizations, it enables the Digital Home Gateway to have a strong applicability. At last, the paper gives a detailed test to the digital home gateway. The structure of the scheme is clear and the extensibility is good, it resolves the compatibility of various equipments and standards within home network and makes the other equipments or clients in home take advantage of UPnP to access information from all the equipments in the home network. The scheme has been successfully implemented in a Home Gateway with embedded Linux operating system.
