As a novel way of aequiring information technology. Wireless sensor networks have been an attractive research focus all over the world. Lt is a kind of non-infrastructure network. A series of sensor nodes are randomly deployed in the control area, these sensor nodes through wireless communication to form a self-organizing network.The network can be used to testing,sensing and collecting information of monitored objects, the information can be processed, then sent to the base station. It has a flexible,self-organization and strong invulnerability features, has a very broad application prospects.There are many differences between Wireless sensor networks and traditional network communication technology.In Wireless sensor networks,the hardware resources are limited, the number of nodes is great, and a high degree of application-related. The traditional routing protocols cannot be applicable to WSNs,and need to design new routing protocols.In recent years, there are many routing protocols for wireless sensor networks.The research on LEACH is a hot-spot in wireless sensor networks.The thesis describes the characteristics of wireless sensor networks,applications and key technology, and introduces several typical routing protocols in detail. It stresses the priciple and mechanism of LEACH, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of this routing protocol.Combined with the disadvantages of LEACH,The thesis presents rel-evant improvement program. The improvement of the main ideas is that we choose unequal clusters and double cluster routing as a starting point.We introduce a routing protocol based hierarchical which has dobule cluster-heads.The new protocol has been given the simulation by the NS2 software.Compare with the LEACH, by analysis of the results of the simulation, we verify the new routing protocol. The experimental results show that there are a good improvement to the improved clustering routing protocol in the node survival time. It effectively improve the balance of energy consumption of the network.
