AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) is one of the most important network nodes in modern logistics supply chain and has various application shapes in different fields. Presently, owning an AS/RS system has became the sign of automation and infomationization developing level. The paper puts forward the assistant method of computer modeling and simulation during the planning and designing of AS/RS system, and attains its 3D visualization. It has very great practical application value to enhance the recognization of the system, the optimization of system resources and the accuracy of the system running efficiency estimation.The content of the article is composed of the following four parts:The first Part, which is the basis of the study, concludes the statement of the structure of AS/RS, the characteristic of AS/RS, the function of the AS/RS and the principle and step of design. The first part is explained in chapter two.The second part, which concentrates on the methods of system simulation, concludes the tactics and steps of discrete system simulation, analysis of queuing system and the characteristics of logistics system simulation. The second part is explained in chapter three.The third part, which is the establishing of the stereoscopic warehouse system model, expounds the building ways of AS/RS physical model and statistical model. Then explain the methods in Flexsim simulation software. The third part is explained in chapter four.The forth part, which is about application and practice, choose medicine AS/RS-the most automatized and extensively applied AS/RS system as target and object. Take advantages of Flexsim to do the visualization and simulation of the operation flows of stereoscopic warehouse and to get the corresponding statistical analysis results after having studied the core modeling skills of Flexsim. The fourth part is explained in chapter 5.The design based on simulation is the core in this paper, and is also the point of innovation. In the part of application and practice, we can monitor the whole space-time information of the systemic equipments in the practical process of production of future through the user interfaces. We can also find out the place where the block and bottle-neck have taken place and state how they develop, reflecting by the system of simulation. By changing the input of the parameters and simulating the process of production and the impulsion of system aroused by fluctuation, we can avoid various unforeseen factors of system design in the state of idealization, and have visual and intuitionistic solving way for the block of the system. Therefore, we can know the all-sided actual flow and production information of the future automatic logistical system before the system is invested and founded.In conclusion, the study of design and simulation based on Flexsim in the article not only shorten the design period of AS/RS, but also improve the quality of the design, because the result of computer simulation can provide the direct reference and basis for optimizing the project.
