Plant classification is one of the basis works of the botany research, the taxonomy information may regard as a database system on a certain degree. In the traditional classification method, the classification information is recorded on the paper medium and spread on the book. With the development of modern society, more and more classification information is appeared, and the old information management method, such as the flora and the plant key list, cannot satisfy the present need.As one of technologies in the computer field, the speed of database technology is quickest and the application field is the most widespread, it already became the most important technology base and the prop of computer application system and the computer information management system. How to unify the computer database technology and the plant retrieval appraisal, and use the characteristic of quickly operating and the major reserves of the computer to realize the multi-ways and the overlapping appraisal retrieval is an urgent problem, which needed to be solved for the plant researcher. This research has used Visual Foxpro 6.0 and Dreamweaver 8 as the tool, takes the Labiate plant in Inner Mongolia as the example, used the SQL,ASP technology and ADO technology,Constructed initially the digitization retrieval system and Website of Labiate plants of Inner Mongolia .The following conclusions have been drawn through to compare the two developed completely database solutions on technical stratification plane and the use stratification plane:First, taking Visual FoxPro 6.0 as the representation, the single computer solution is more suitable in the open country environment with non-network support.Second, taking ASP technology as the representation, the web type solution is the tendency of plant database development in the future.Third, the key words in the database should be selecting suitably based on the database content and the use scope.
