In these years, people start to spare more attention on the safeguard of intangible cultural heritage. With their media features and the agenda-setting function, mass media are playing an important role in this field to spread culture. The Dragon Boat Festival in China, which has a long history and diverse customs, is a typical example of intangible cultural heritage. With the analysis of mass media's report on the Dragon Boat Festival as a case study, the thesis focuses on mass media's function of spreading social heritage, the media features that can popularize the dragon boat culture, the positive and negative impacts of agenda-setting, and the over-commercialized reports on the festival, and finally gives some suggestions for future report. |
