Research On Adolescents' Media Literacy In Minority Areas Of Northwestern China

With the development of science and technology, people are more and more dependent on the mass media, from which they get much information. Mass media, which was mainly made up of internet and TV has played an important role in people's daily life.However, the side effects of mass media are emerging as the influence of some other factors. When people involve in entertainment and convenience which brought by mass media, people are gradually losing the ability of thinking. Especially for the juvenility adolescents, who could not discriminate what is bad or what is good, the development of their body and psychology will be influenced by the bad information from the mass media. The understanding, criticizing and application of the media is the necessary ability and literacy to deal with the media. So, media literacy plays an important role in how to protect the commonalty from the bad influence of media.The objective of this study is the adolescents from a minority region of northwest of China. Such as Surveys and Questionnaire method, interview method were used in this study in order to investigate the situation of local adolescents'media literacy. Meanwhile, according to the file and the study of European and American advanced concept of media literacy, the way of education of media literacy, suitable for the local adolescents was given:in order to achieve the final aim of developing oneself by using mass media, school and family should be the main place, and the education of literature, the learning of media and information character and the citizen education should be combined together.
