The demand of multimedia terminal is growing with the development of internet technologies and modern business, in which the digital video codec is the basic and key module, it becomes a hot point and has a wide application foreground and business value.Recent years, all kinds of video codec standard is proposed by International Standard Organization, mainly include MPEG series and H.26x series, apply to various domain. MPEG-4 is the new video codec standard proposed by ISO/IEC, it has good compression performance, can achieve high quality and low bit-rate. Moreover, it has low implement complexity toward basic application so it fits to embed multimedia application. The BF561 is a member of ADI Inc Blackfin processor family of product targeting embed consumer multimedia applications, it is one of the processor which can implement the codec.This paper mainly consists the analysis of the core arithmetic and key technologies about MPEG-4 standard, simplify the XviD codes according to the application demand and realize the arithmetic transplant to BF561. We also carried out the optimization of program structure,memory,functional module and system DMA, The result show that the speed can achieve 27fps and the decode peak-signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) is 34.40,achieved the demand of quality and real time index. Moreover, we discussed the arithmetic transplant develop and the program optimization methods based on DSP. This can be a foundation or reference for a improve on MPEG-4 codec standard and the realization of other video codec based on DSP platform.
