To cope with the world financial crisis impact on the Chinese economy, China's state council put forward the revitalization plan in ten industries, which shipbuilding industry was included in. Connecting the purchasing and production department in the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the steel stacking yard is the storage center of important production material, which took the production material feeding, storage, supply management and so on. Therefore, to revitalize China shipbuilding industry, improve the management and the operation efficiency in the steel stacking yard has become a top priority.Took the shipyard as research object, the steel stacking yard layout and operation plan was optimized with the production sequence constraint, and a warehouse management information system was developed in this paper, in order to improve the overall operation efficiency in the steel stacking yard.Considering the stack layout and warehouse management problem, this paper analyzes the research status in warehouse layout and management of steel plate stacking yard in home and abroad. And much more attention is paid to the steel plate stacking yard layout optimization and warehouse management in this paper. The warehouse operation included input, storage and output such three stages in steel stacking yard. A stack layout assumption of stacking the steel plate in batch was proposed at first in this paper. And then, with this assumption, a mathematical optimization model with a minimum stack requirements goal was proposed, after a deep analysis on the input and output operation in the steel stacking yard. Meanwhile, an improved genetic algorithm was designs to solve this problem this paper. And then the minimum stack number and the optimum input plan was gained, with the analysis on the result of an instance data. In addition, with the comparison between the different warehouse layout and operation plan optimization results, it shows that the balanced warehouse output plan can get the best result.On the basis of the work referred in the previous section, with the deep analysis on the requirement of steel plate management, we design a storage management information system for the steel plate stacking yard. Adopt the advanced information technology, such as bar code technology, wireless network technology, web service structure, the mobile terminal, the storage management information system support the real-time monitoring of steel and steel plate informatization. And this system has been put into operation, the effect of operation reflects well.In conclusion, the research on the warehouse layout and operation plan in the steel stacking yard, and the warehouse management information system development in this paper, had made profound effects, and it was instructive and had good application value. And it also had good beneficial reference to the related research work.
