As the technology processing, the ship navigation system is more and more intelligent. You can obviously see it in Integrated Navigation System (INS). INS contains many navigational sensors, such as radar/ARPA, AIS, GPS, compass and ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System). The main parts of INS are radar/ARPA, AIS and ECDIS and the most important technology is to fuse the navigational information of the three parts.Firstly, the thesis introduces the actual development situation of INS, and then studies the theories of chart displaying, radar signal processing and AIS signal processing. The remaining parts of the thesis discusses the algorithms of radar image overlap display on ECDIS information fusion for ARPA and AIS and the development. The thesis also gives the simulation of the algorithms.The radar image overlapping is to paste radar echo image on ECDIS. The radar image has the real-time information about target ships near own ship that the ECDIS doesn't have, so the overlapping can make the navigational information more reliable an accurate. The computer program of radar image overlapping is developed using VC++ in Windows platform and experiments are conducted. The thesis gives a new quick interpolation method of radar image to improve the quality of overlapping display of radar image. Radar image can refresh quickly while the ECDIS can't. Experiment are conducted and the results using Mercator's projection to solve the refresh problem.ARPA and AIS also have different kinds of navigational information. The information fusion of ARPA and AIS can mix the advantages of the two sensors together. Two simulation systems of ARPA and AIS are design according to the theories to test and validate the fusion algorithm. The two systems can generate both ARPA data and AIS data. The advantages and disadvantages of different algorithm are analyze and a quick and reliable one is used Finally, the computer program of information fusion for ARPA and AIS is developed using VC++ in Windows platform and experiments are conducted.
