With the combination of the Internet and mobile communication,more and more real-time applications based IPv6 appear,the speed of nodes increase gradually,therefore,how to shorten the process of fast-moving mobile node in the switching time to meet the needs of real-time communication has become a research focus areas of mobile IP.This thesis has focused on the research of fast handovers for mobile IPv6.First,the thesis analyzes the principle of mobile IPv6 and its working process,at the same time,builds experiment environment using MIPL to implement mobile IPv6.The thesis studies the technology of fast handovers based on mobile IPv6,analyzes the mechanism of fast handovers and studies the reasons for the time delay caused by handovers.In response to these reasons,the thesis proposes countermeasures to improve the mechanism of fast handovers,compares the delay of FMIPv6 and FHMIPv6 and finds out that FHMIPv6 has better results.The thesis also analyzes the technologies of L2trigger,the cache technology,context transferring,fast duplicate address detection based on MLD and points out improvement effect and their shortcomings.Based on the analysis of fast handovers and the improvement methods,the thesis proposes an optimized handovers mechanism called fast duplicate address detection based on the supporting of link layer,this mechanism effectively shortens the delay caused by mobile detection and duplicate address detection.The purpose of this study is to make mobile nodes meet the needs of real-time operations using the mechanism of mobile IPv6 fast handovers,then the handovers performance can meet the needs of people's work and study.
