In the near future, demands for network mobility will arise from real situations such as a Personal Area Network (PAN) taken with the users and access networks deployed on public transportations like cars, buses and trains. As the-computer network developing rapidly, wireless network and ASON have become popular and the direction of the future network. At present, based on the next generation network.of IPv6, Mobile IPv6 has been proposed to make the connection to the network incessantly while the mobile node is moving around.The idea of Mobile IPv6 can be summarized that the mobile node needn't change IP while moving around, key of which is the handover. So the latency of the handover is very important. A Model of Hierarchical Mobile IPv6(HMIPv6) mobility management was proposed to solve the problem of mobile node's bad performance when performing local movement within a domain. And the Fast Handover of Mobile IPv6(FMIPv6) was proposed to shorten the latency of handover by using the anticipative handover triggered by L2 network. After analyzing Mobile IPv6, HMIPv6 and FMIPv6, the proposal of Fast Handover for Hierarchical MIPv6 (F-HMIPv6) was tabled, in which the mobile node shortened the handover latency by responding to the anticipative handover. The principles, architectures, data flows and the operations of the F-HMIPv6 were decribed in detail, and a tested was set up to implemented the F-HMIPv6.During the completion of this paper, the author participated in the " Research of MIPv6 Handover Delay " project, which major object is performing researches for mobile IP technology of the future mobile communication systems. Taking this as the background, in this paper the author analyzed the achievement of heterogeneous networks through Mobile IPv6 technology in the WLAN environment. After repeated testing of the prototype system, it was proved as an effective solution to enhance the handover performance of Mobile IPv6.
