With the development of the wireless communication technology. mobility management has been an independent research field which comes across various wireless communication technologies and got attention of many leading international standardization organizations. The coexistence and integration of heterogeneous communication networks in the future present new challenge and vast research space for mobility management, and research of mobility management has been imperative for the development of the wireless communication technology. In this paper, profound research to mobility management schemes defined in network layer is carried out and PB-FMIPv6is optimized, the research details are as follow.First of all, inspired by the great idea of the definitive link layer trigger algorithm, a scheme of optimizing PB-FMIPv6using the definitive link layer trigger algorithm is proposed, feasibility analysis are presented too. In addition, an improved implementation scheme is proposed. The improved implementation not only reduces the complex calculation in original algorithm implementation scheme, but also guarantees the acceptable algorithm accuracy. Furthermore, because of the difference between PB-FMIPv6and FMIPv6. the "Binding Lag" phenomenon caused by the introduction of definitive link layer trigger algorithm is observed and analyzed theoretically. At last, simulation in OMNeT++is carried out to implement the definitive link layer trigger algorithm in PB-FMIPv6. Simulation results indicate that compared to PB-FMIPv6with constant handover threshold, PB-FMPv6with definitive link layer trigger algorithm has shorter handover duration and smaller amount of delayed packets. The adverse impact of "Binding Lag" phenomenon to PB-FMIPv6is less than the optimization of definitive link layer trigger for PB-FMIPv6.
