Construction And Application Of Knowledge Mapping Facing To Scientometrics

Scientometrics is one of the important sub-disciplines of science studies based on quantitative measures. It got a deep development since it was founded by Price 50 years ago. As a quantitative measurement, Scientometrics has been used to help scientific research, technology policy-making and other aspects science. There are three methods of Scientometric analysis:common statistical analysis, modeling and computer-based analysis. With the rapid growth of Visualization and data mining technology, knowledge mapping as a new method raised and became an important method in Scientometrics now. According to a visual expression, knowledge mapping can reveals the relationship and structure of knowledge, which can be used to assist scientists do some research of revealing the structure and evolution of the main sub-fields, research fronts and collaboration networks in the field of science. As a new research tool, scientists focused on its application and seldom research the method itself. Therefore, it is necessary for us to make a further research on the procedure of knowledge mapping in Scientometrics. This study can offer the new researcher a rapid entrance to knowledge mapping analysis and expand the use of knowledge mapping in science study.Based on the document research of Scientometrics and knowledge mapping, this study use an empirical research to explore and construct a process of knowledge mapping in Scientometrics. With the user's perspective, we studied the unit, data source, indicators and analysis methods of Scientometrics, and concept, construction methods, visualization software and other related theories of knowledge mapping. According to this, this article revealed different expression and characteristics of knowledge mapping in Scientometrics. In order to get some valuable results, this paper focused on the patents and journal articles of wind energy research. With the different source of maps, we provided a process to study the feasible practice of knowledge mapping analysis in Scientometrics.
