Stephen Hawking once predicted that 21st century would be the century of complexity. This scientific prediction had been proved by the development of science during the past decade. Since 1990 s, the endless information technology innovation based on computer and the Internet has promoted the development of all kinds of database, open access platform, virtual learning community and widened the access to information for human, and also triggered a revolution in human activity and scientific research. In this background, network science which originated from interdisciplinarity of mathematics, physics, complexity science, computer and information science, biological science, system science, social science.etc gained wide attention and participation from different fields.During the past century, scholars of archival science dedicated to archival theory and practice, which resulted in knowledge accumulation for archival sicence. And also the archival academic community grown up from all kinds of research institutes and professional groups. Based on these aspects, it's available to probe the develpment of archival science, as well as to comprehend the evolution path of archival knowledge network from perspectives of complex netwok and scientometrics with the data from the growing scientific databases. In order to reveal the intrinsic characteristics and evolution mechanism of archival knowledge network, this dissertation took archival citation network and knowledge elements as the research object, by using the metrology software Bibexcel, SPSS and network analysis software Gephi,Ucinet, CiteSpace, Histcite, etc, as well as knowledge and domain ontology tools for scientometrics methodolgy, analyzed the parameters in complex network such as node degree, degree distribution, degree of correlation, average path length, clustering coefficient, discussed the properties and characteristics of archival knowledge system the evolution way of archival science. It proposed that in the future course of the development, archival science would need to advocate diversified value orientation in the perspective of the knowledge ecology, forge the academic community, improve its knowledge system and paradigm, reinforce its scientific foundation. This dessertation included 7 chapters:Chapter 0 proposed several groups of definitions about archival knowledge network, summarized and reviewed the relevant research about knowledge network in other fields, by which it obtained the feasibility and value of applying the thoery of knowledge ecology and knowledge network to archival science, and also outlined the research points and difficulties.Chapter 1 clearified the theoretical basis, measurement methods and formula of archival knowldge network analysis with the attributes and dimensions of archival knowledge network explored in Chapter 1; dicussed the effectiveness of archival knowledge network for describing the principles, mechanisms of development and evolution of archival science from perspectives of knowledge field, knowledge life-cycle and knowledge map; which all suggested that archival knowledge network could visualize its spiral inside development and dynamic outside link of its net structure by using information technology.According to the theoretical basis in Chapter 1, Chapter 2 finished the statistics and analysis of archival knowledge medium, so as to ascertain the scope of archival knowledge media for knowledge subject and object statistics in the next chapters, and completed the analysis of interdisciplinary communication of archival science on the citation between archival and other periodicals. It found that the disciplinary boundary of archival science got widen and new research fields generated in the constant process of absorbing and internalization of nutritions from other disciplines; meanwhile, the thoughts on in this process, the knowledge of archival science and its influence also diffused to other disciplines, Chinese archival academic community had stronger self-identity of archival science than outsiders; whereas, the periodical measurement and knowledge exchange analysis between disciplines showed that the evolution of the whole archival knowledge ecology system run along in complementary evolution path which meaned mutual reference and transplantation of theories and methods between different disciplines; however, excessive reference and transplantation from humanities and social sciences made Chinese archival science weak in dicipliniary norms and support of basic sicence, which slowed down the step to normal dicipline for archival science, and has not formed the self-organizational evolution path, so it's necessary to strengthen the diversity for archival knowledge ecology. The interdisciplinary knowledge communication of archival science was mainly influenced by the isolation from professional terminology and education for archival reseachers, the mechanism of interdisciplinary achievement publishing and evaluation, the differences of academic community and disciplinary organization framework and so on.By measurement and analysis of archival knowledge subjects, Chapter 3 discussed the number and relevance of subjuect nodes which implied the behaviour regulation of knowledge subjects in knowledge production, sharing, communication and innovation in archival knowledge network. Based on divisions and high-frequence analysis of authors, this chapter mainly discussed archival knowledge subjucts' collaboration and sharing behaviour. It proposed the qualitative analysis from collaboration networks, inheritance between generations, knowledge absorbing of knowledge subject; it found that the collaboration networks were scale-free and the internal connected subnet had the characteristics of small world; the sustainable development of archival knowledge ecosystem needed various researchers and talent corresponding to different node types in the knowledge networks; the boundary between generations of archival academic community had become fuzzy, and lateral transmission gradually replaced the vertical transmission of knowledge; most members of academic community had been pursuing interdiciplinary and cross-cultural communication and collaboration, especially embodied in knowledge absorbing of subjects in different era.Chapter 4 analyzed archival knowledge objects(knowledge element) by co-words and clustering analysis, and from which discussed the phenomenon of knowledge absorbing; also reclaimed to construct archival domain ontology on the foundation of knowledge element(archival thesaurus); then explored archival knowledge gene which implied the stability, inheritance and mutation of archival knowledge, because it controlled the growth of subdiciplines, research fields in archival science itself and could help comprehending the characteristics of archival knowledge and ability of constant evolution, so as to offer theoretical foundation to archival knowledge innovation.Along with the design of knowledge ecosystem discussed in previous chapters, chapter 5 finished the technology networks exploration of archival knowledge ecosystem. It clearified how to search the important nodes in archival knowledge networks based on archival knowledge measurement and how to build harmonious interpersonal networks, inside and outside knowledge networks for the frame of archival knowledge ecosystem by using various information technology; and also explored application scope and models of archival knowledge networks and bases, such as applying archival domain ontology or knowledge gene to archival knowledge dividing, changing archival knowledge organization, applying archival knowledge networks and bases to knowledge service and academic evaluation.Chapter 6 made a conclusion of this dissertation. Both scientometrics methodologies and knowledge ecology theories could offer more credentials for the process of archival science transferring from empirical science to normal science. It's necessary for sustainable development of archival knowledge ecosystem to extend social cognitive scope and participation degree and build archival knowledge bases in order to provide service for the development of archvial science itself. At last, it reclaimed the future research fields, such as archival domain ontology analysis and the long tail of keywords measurement.
