The Design And Implementation Of Student Record And Score Management System For Institution Of Higher Learning

With the development of national higher education, the enrollment scales of all levels of universities and colleges are getting larger and larger, and the implementations of such reforms as credit system, course-selecting system and flexible educaton system are being widely conducted. As a result, the amount of information on students is sharply increasing and the burden of teaching management of higher education institutes is becoming heavier and heavier. While traditional model of student information management inevitably waste larger amount of resources of human, materials and finance, no longer meeting the need of current practical situations. The issues of increasing the level of student information management and setting up a corresponding system suitable for each specific university or college have never been so pressing as they are now in the process of information construction of higher institudes.Firstly, the present paper analyses the situations of higher education institutes'management work of student record and academic achivement both domestically and abroad, pointing out the necessity and significance of setting up a system of student record and academic achivement management in universities and colleges. The paper takes the practical situations of management of student record and academic achivement in European and American College of Hebei Science and Technology Normal University as its research object, and conducts a careful and systemetic requirement analysis. Based on the requirements of system design, corresponding development tools are chosen and analysed.Secondly, according to the practical requirements of the higher education institutes for the system of students'record and academic achievement, the paper carried out systemic frame analysis, role analysis, work flow analysis and that of database, giving rise to the network architecture chart based on B/S structure, general design framework and database structure. At the same time, the paper makes a detailed and comprehensive design of modules on student information management, academic achievement management and student record management. The system adopts B/S model software as its framework, which is convenient for teachers, students and management personnel to operate. Besides, the system is consistently improved after several tests and changes, reaching the expected goal of the design.Finally, the architecture of the system and following modules of account management, student information management, academic achievement management, and student record management are realized. Among them, several functions such as student information management, input of academic achievement, inquiry, modification, printing, ranking of students and placement tests, register of record files, auditing and management, examination of graduation and academic degree are especially emphasized. At last, the system was trialed and a conclusion was reached. The system was installed in the educational administration department in Hebei Science and Technology Normal University and then operated smoothly.
