In today's world, despite the rapid development of information technology and the extensive application of office automation to varied industries, student management software in the majority of our higher education institutes has been dominated by the sheer software of teaching management. A suitable management system is yet not available to the daily work of student management and moral education, which is assumed to be supported by a database system. Thus, large bodies of student information in terms of all kinds of files or electronic documents occupy the desks of the teachers responsible for students' affairs. If there is a highly efficient management system to store and manage the huge body of information, the heavy load on those teachers will be greatly lightened. In addition, a new concept of student management work will be brought about by the raising of students' subject status in the work of moral education and student information management.This thesis thoroughly analyzes the relevant theoretical basis of pedagogy, education technology and computer database application. Allowing for traits of students' affairs in our higher education institutes as well as the shortage of existing workable student information management software, this thesis, after referring to the design of foreign enterprise management software, goes on to probe into and study interactive student information management system design and prototype development, and discuss the implications for student management work supported by renewed management software.In the light of the drawbacks of the existing student information management system and the need of student moral education and management work, this thesis makes system need analysis and feasibility analysis, making explicit the objectives of designing this system. During this course, constructivism learning theory is introduced to the moral education and management work, which serves as the theoretical basis for designing and developing this system. The whole developing process is centered on how to promote the students' self-management and self assessment. The promotion of students' self-management facilitates the lessening of the teachers' workload of dealing with student information, and thus enables the teachers to commit more energy to communicating with the students and exercising better moral education.After the clarification of the target system and the function decomposition, an interactive student information management system is designed and developed by applying the theory of software engineering evolution model. In the process of developing the prototype of this system, the browser/server (B/S) system structure and the function module structure are used as the system structure at first. Then, vb.net language is used for the design coding, the realization of all the functions. The design and development steps of this student information management system follow the developing steps of any general software in the field of Software Engineering.After completing the development of system prototype, it, as an information management platform, is put into long-term practice in a class. Through questionnaire survey and statistical data analysis, the practical effect of this system is evaluated. The final of this thesis summarizes the findings as well as the problems and drawbacks of this research and gives an explanation for expanding and supplementing the system.
