Cranes are a type of lifting equipments, which are widely used in chemical plant construction, civil engineering, harbor construction and other kinds of domains concerning about the economy of the nation. With the tendency of building component to be larger and in form of modules, one crane doesn't meet the lifting requirement sometimes, the collaborative working of multiple cranes is inevitable. Recent collaborative working of multiple cranes is carried out mainly by manual instruction with very low efficiency and high operation risk, which makes the development of wireless monitoring system of multiple crane collaboration play an important role in improving the efficiency and safety of multiple crane working.Base on the serial crane developed by Construction Machinery Center of Dalian University of Technology, the wireless monitoring system of multiple-crane lifting is studied. The main research content includes following aspects:(1) The characteristics of wireless communication was analyzed in terms of the features about crane structure and electric control system, after which the data collection and wireless transmission forms were determined in order to make the overall monitoring system scheme.(2) Singlechip, CAN bus module as well as wireless transceiver were studied, and based on STC89C52 singlechip, SJA1000 controller, 82C250 and PTR8000+ transceiver, the sub-system's interface circuit of wireless data transmission was designed and the corresponding software was programmed.(3) CAN and PTR8000+ communication protocol were deeply studied to make point-to-multipoint wireless communication protocol based on TDMA technology for multi-crane monitoring system, the control process of host machine and slave machine was framed.(4) With help of singlechip experiment panel and wireless transceiver, the point-to- point wireless communication experiment was carried out to the validity of developed hardware circuit and software.(5) With help of mature display product and software, the interface design of monitoring terminal and stimulation were accomplished. The interface of monitoring terminal have the function of displaying multi-crane's working data at real time, reserving data and giving alarm when it is necessary. The study results provide some kind of reference for wireless monitoring in construction machinery industry and other fields, which will have prosperous future in industrial applications.
