As the strategic resource of one state, oil and gas is taking an important role in the national economy. In China there is abundant oil and gas in the continental shelf which is exploited in the initial stage. JZ9-3 oil field of Offshore Petroleum Development Corporation is an offshore one which faces great prospects and has 1 million tons crude oil annually. No-man on duty mode which is totally different from the other national and foreign oil field will be adopted in the new offshore platform. This paper elaborates the research on the wireless monitoring system of unmanned satellite Off-shore oil platform, describes the Design and Implementation of system, and finally analyzes the reliability of the system. The content of the paper is shown as the following:(1) On the basis of the demand analysis of system, the functions of the system are explained in order to meet the need of monitoring the unmanned oil platform. After analyzing the oil production technology of the offshore oil platform and the basic principles of Wireless remote monitoring system, the framework of the monitoring system, which is based on wireless data transmitting, is put forward.(2) Utilizing wireless microwave technology to design the monitoring system for offshore oil platform. And the hardware network is built through selecting the IPC and PLC as the main equipment of the system.(3) The software of the wireless monitoring system for offshore oil platform is designed by using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, including workflow, data acquisition of monitoring software, etc. Siemens STEP7 has been selected to carrying on the programming design for PLC of central and satellite platforms in order to meet the system need.(4) Considering the environment characteristic of the offshore oil platform and some special requirements of monitoring system, the paper analyzes the potential weak which the system could contain, and takes several corresponding measures in the process of software and hardware design.(5) The paper establishes the reliability model of wireless monitoring system, and calculates and evaluates the reliability of the system.(6) After finishing the establishment of software and hardware of the monitoring system, the system has been installed. And data monitoring, alarm and other functions are tested by a comprehensive experiment.The wireless monitoring system of the offshore oil platform is established through all above work. After several experiments, the results showed that the system has various advantages, such as simple operation, high performance, good security, convenient expansion. The system's superior functionality can greatly enhance the management efficiency of the unmanned platforms; reduce intensity of labor, lower security incidents of the oil field. It is profound for other offshore oil platforms to establish a wireless monitoring system in the future, because of its practical experience and theoretical basis.
