The laser range finder has been widely used in military and civilian areas, as a kind of electronic measuring instrument. With the rapid development of network technology and microelectronics technology, electronic measuring instrument has the development trend of network and a high degree of integration. The high-speed data acquisition card made by FPGA(a kind of large-scale programming logic devices) can make the laser range finder circuit highly integrated, and the research direction of this paper is to realize network.Using the USB protocol and WiFi technology in the development process, a Embeded System based on ARM-Linux has been designed, which is the control terminal of a high-speed data acquisition card and a node on the wireless network. This Embeded System uses a USB host interface to connect to the USB device interface of the data acquisition card, and uses another one inserted by a wireless card to communicate with remote PC.The hardware and software design of the Embeded System are fully detailed in this paper. The hardware circuit provides a series of feature-rich interfaces, including of JTAG, USB host, RS232, RJ45, and so on. The software design includes Qt interface design, the development of USB host interface based on libusb library and Socket programming based on UDP.The dissertation also uses MFC programming framework and Socket programming to design the software on upper computer, which facilitates remote control and displaying, storing of the acquired data.The experimental results show that, as the lower computer, the Embeded System ensures that the data acquisition card work normally in accordance with the indicators and accomplishes local control satisfactorily; And meantime, as a node on the network, it can analyze the upper computer commands correctly and do the corresponding operations, and fulfill the wireless communication successfully.
