As the development of the society and technology, the traditional city lighting control, management and maintenance measures can not adapt to the pace of the modern cities, the urban lighting remote computer monitoring system, ULRCMS for short, has become one of the great image projects of the local government.In order to actualize the real-time computer monitoring and controlling for the city road lighting, based on the ULRCMS of WeiFang City in this paper, we developed a lighting control system applied for practical engineering. We developed dual-leveled methods to realize the real-time monitoring and controlling. First is the wireless communication method which using the monitoring host computers and concentrators. And second is the power line carrier communication method which are using concentrators and the single-lamp monitoring and controlling terminals.And these two methods have the ability of controlling the single lamp and upgrading the system easily. By the successful application of the system implement, it achieves the computer automatically monitoring and controlling management of the entire digital city lighting system.This system mainly contains the system control center, host monitoring and controlling software and access terminal communication module, host monitoring and controlling software using rapid visual development tools Delphi 7.0 as a Front Desk interface development platform, the database using the SQL Server 2000. We developed a practical application project of the city remote computer monitoring system, with the convergence of computer technology, electronic communication technology, and geographic information system technology.The system has an important social significance and important application value of digitalizing computer-controlled and automatically-managed lighting system of the modern city. This System has already been successfully deployed and running at WeiFang city, it achieves the city streetlights concentration, visualized management, and also, improves the management level and efficiency. It has truly gained of good effects and social benefits.
