The new technologies of communication and the needs of new services all drive the communication network from cable broadband communication to flexible and convenient wireless communication. The next generation network would be IP broadband communication network integrated by cable network and wireless network. In the future broadband access system, the integration of the two different broadband access technologies, EPON and WiMAX, would combine the super high band width of optic communication and mobility of wireless network to reduce the equipment cost, and provide perfect service of broadband access. By combining the QoS mechanisms of IntServ/RSVP and DiffServ in IP network, an end-to-end QoS mechanism named IntServ-over-DiffServ was proposed, and based on the joint of QoS mechanisms of EPON and WiMAX network, this paper proposes two kinds of integrated network of EPON and WiMAX: loose-coupled integrated network and tight-coupled network based on IntServ-over-DiffServ mechanism. Meanwhile, based on this two integrated network frameworks, this paper proposed the corresponding implementation of QoS framework. By contradistinction and analysis, a result that integrated network with tight-coupled framework has more advantages over integrated network with loose-coupled framework on end-to-end QoS, resource utilization, throughput of the system and so on, would be got.The paper consists of three parts: The first part resides in chapter one. First, we simply introduce the state-of-the-art and purpose of the broadband access technology. We make simple introduce and comparison about the main cable and wireless broadband access technology nowadays. And we mainly introduce the advantages of EPON and WiMAX. Than we present the necessity of this study. The second part resides in chapter two and chapter three. It introduces the system architecture, principles, QoS mechanisms, of EPON and WiMAX, and so on. And lay the ground found of this study. The third part resides in chapter four and chapter five; it's also the main part of this paper. First, it presents the theoretical basis of the integrated network of EPON and WiMAX, and give a detailed introduction about network architecture, function modules, working principles, and systematic QoS mechanisms. Then, a novel resource schedule algorithm I-WMDRR of the integrated network to guarantee the different QoS requirements of different services in the net was proposed. At last, a system simulation about the model of the integrated network is executed, and analyzes the simulation results.
