Design And Implementation Of Portable POS Systems

Currently the general management of catering industry in China is the original ordering and checking-out mode. This approach has been completely unable to keep up with current step of rapid information development; neither has been unable to meet consumer demands for higher requirements of convenience, speediness, personality and quality of service. So the portable POS (Point of Sale) restaurant management system will become the inevitably demand.The whole portable POS restaurant management system has three subsystems: the host management system, portable POS management system and the kitchen management system. The key of this article is the development of the portable POS management system. The main contents of this article include three aspects.First, the demand analysis and outline design was expatiated. Second, the design thought, the development flow and achievement of this system were introduced. The whole system has four modules: menu management, ordering management, checking-out management and wireless management. In the development process, the Memory Scheduling Algorithm-LRU was improved and applied to the menu management. So the resource limit of the embedded equipment was satisfied to, and the speed of accessing the document was enhanced. At the same time, the way of how to use the wireless network to access the database was analyzed, and then the suitable way was used, so the portable equipment can easily and quickly accesses the server. Third, the functionality and performance testing of the portable POS management system was completed.The portable POS management system uses the wireless LAN technology to communicate data with the host server database. This system manages all of the restaurant's operations by the computer that ensures the entire business processes efficient.
