With the development of network, Internet becomes one part of our life gradually. GPRS wireless network with the Internet has been linked and become a resource of sustainable use and development. The embedded system is widely used in telecommunications, industrial control and other areas. In this paper the GPRS wireless data terminal was designed and realized to use the embedded system and the GPRS network. This terminal takes the S3C2410 microprocessor as a center, through driving GPRS module of communication, connecting to the Internet by GPRS wireless network, achieving data transmission.For the hardware design, it's consist of the embedded image capture system which consists of USB camera and S3C2410 as its CPU, DS18B20 alarm module, and GPRS send-receive module.As far as the software design, the system software and the internet applications must be designed. First we must put the BootLoader and embedded Linux kernel to the target of ARM platform. Then a system of image capturing, a GPRS module and a SMTP mail server need to be designed to run on the platform of ARM.The thesis introduced the issue research background, the research purpose and the system function analysis. And introduced the system design plan in detail, including microprocessor choose, embedded operating system transplants, V4L image capture, JPEG Image Processing, GPRS protocol. For some key technologies the paper also has a detailed analysis and research.
