Ocean, the blue territory, is offering plentiful petroleum resource. Accordingly, entering into the 21 century, each country in the world is paying highly attention to the exploration of ocean resource, especially petroleum resources. China also has huge ocean territory, with vast oil and gas resources. As such it is most important to explore the petroleum resource stored in the ocean. China began exploit ocean resources in 1950s. Unfortunately the core technology and equipment is heavily relied on imports till now, without a doubt, the price is costly and the technology is restricted.Streamer position control system is one of the crucial equipments in exploit the ocean resource. At present, only a few companies in US have the ability to manufacture such equipments, and Our existing equipments is entirely imported. For the purpose of develop our own equipments and shake off the dependence on foreign technology, the national high-tech scheme, i.e. 863, drafted batches of projects. The Design and development of Embedded Controlling System for marine seismic streamer is one of the aforementioned projects. This dissertation is one component in the Design and development of Embedded Controlling System Project. The article analyzed present principle and performance of the existing systems, and further more, completed the system design and relevant equipment selection as well as the hardware design. With respect to the software design, we ported the uC/OS-â…¡real-time system to the chip, i.e. C8051F120. Consequently the software development cost and time consumed was reduced greatly. We compiled the driver for Ethernet controller CP2200, and modified the TCP/IP stack. With regard to the controlling strategies, we adopted PID and Fuzzy-PI composite method respectively to develop depth control system. We compared the simulation result of SIMULINK of the two control strategies, the output revealed that the Fuzzy-PI composite control is more competitive.At present, some mainland research institute already studied the towed cable water bird controller, however the study of embedded control system was never been touched. Therefore, we advanced the research of position control system of seismic streamer.
