With the constant integration of embedded technology and virtual instrument(VI) technology, and as the application of Embedded Virtual Instrument is widespread, it is urgent and important to research a highly efficient development method for EVI. Reconfigurable technology refers to that devices can be adjusted and optimized according to their own resources. A lot of research has been done on reconfigurable computing and the development of VI both at home and abroad. The reconfigurable technology will be introduced into the development of VI system in this paper, in which the method to research reconfigurable EVI is developed. In this paper, the design method for reconfigurable EVI is researched in the follow areas: first, the concept of dynamically reconfigurable technology is introduced into the design of reconfigurable hardware platform, by using reconfigurable IP core ,and during system running by downloading the setting of IP core which refers to the file bit to implement the hardware reconfiguration. Secondly, by using EVI middleware architecture and modifying the configuration information base, the reconfigurable software is implemented. Third, by the design of EVI integrated development environment(IDE) to integrate the set of tools and a variety of resource storage needed by the development of EVI, the development efficiency of EVI is greatly accelerated. Finally, taking the reconfigurable development of a virtual oscilloscope as an example, the reconfigurable method introduced in this paper is verified. The results show that the basic goal can be achieved by the reconfigurable design method. If the IP resource storage is enriched and EVIIDE is improved, the development of EVI will be facilitated towards more convenient and efficient direction by using this design method.
