Virtual instruments, which utilize data acquisition device and data analytical software, are substitutes of typical measurement instruments. Virtual instrument systems based on PC take the role as main platform of smart testing systems for long time. As the era of post-pc comes on, requirements for more individuation and tiny instruments become more and more eager. Maturation and wide use of embedded systems make the designing virtual instrument in embedded system platform a new way to construct instrument systems in the future.Aiming at this, a data acquisition system project based on AD7864 and ARM S3C2410 embedded main board is presented in this dissertation. The feature and principle of AD7864 which is a high precision, 4-channel, simultaneous sampling A/D converter, is described explicitly. The control method of a data communication between AD7864 and ARM S3C2410 embedded main board outer expanded interface is explained. In addition, the interface circuit between AD7864 and S3C2410 is given. Based on the specific hardware, a virtual storage oscilloscope has been designed, which does not only implement the functions of oscilloscope, but also show the results to the users through various ways. It gives us very good data analysis interface. In the process of implementation the methods that how to customize Windows CE.NET operating system is introduced and the driver program which is fit for self hardware platform is developed. In the end, the design process and key code of user interface is given in the dissertation.
