To respond rapidly to the various requirements of mechanical products, reconfigurable design of product should be achieved. In this paper, product reconfiguration technology based on FPBS(Function-Principle-Behavior-Structure) mapping method is analyzed and studied. The chief contents are as following:⑴During product design and decomposition process, principle and behavior are simultaneously introduced into function structure mapping. Product decomposition modeling method based on FPBS is proposed which efficiently support product design modeling.⑵By applying reconfiguration theory to product decomposition model based on FPBS, reconfiguration process model is built up which can support product function reconfiguration, principle reconfiguration and structure reconfiguration.⑶Considering transferring and transforming type of material folw, energy flow and information flow, product function reconfiguration method is established which can support function rearrangement.⑷By adopting connected graph and spanning tree to express process of module principle(behavior) integration, principle(behavior) reconfiguration method is set up which can support principle(behavior) reconfiguration.⑸Considering structure relationship and behavior compatibility, basis thinking and differentiation rule are founded which can support structure repolymerization.⑹Widely used CAD software and secondly develop tools are selected to integrate with the support software which is developed according to common procedure of reconfiguration method. Compute aided reconfigurable design support software is constituted which can achieve product reconfiguration.
