Asynchronous Time Division Multiplexing technology is a sort of quickly data group exchange technology which allows transmit clock and receive clock work in a way of asynchronous in communication system, it is a kind of exchange based on cell ; it transfers very quickly and can provide high speed port. So it is a good research field that how to design and realize an accurate, efficient and frequency satisfied asynchronous data transfer.The thesis designs and implements the interface unit—slave UTOPIA(Universal Test & Operations PHY Interface for ATM), basing on high performance DSP X. First of all, describes the UTOPIA interface protocol, interface layer festures and a variety of configure forms interface. The thesis do some research on architecture about high performance DSP peripheral equipment interface , logic design in internal interface , partition function module and communication protocol in interior interface . it main research on character on physics layer and ATM layer and analyse interface form . as well as designs transmit receive interface and to interface time sequence .the thesis detailed design read and write request module on physical layer device, read and write request module on ATM layer, internal control modules,exception handling module, etc. In order to achieve the best interface transfer rate, the analysis and design of the size of the FIFO and how to communicate data between the equipment and the FIFO.we do research on main verification way nowsdays , aim at data transfer characteristic in UTOPIA interface , we make various verification to UTOPIA interface data transfer. we also complete the work of synthesis of the UTOPIA interface , In the SMIC 0.13μm technology,The design meets the frequency request which is 300 MHz in the internal of interface and the fast frequency can reach to 50 MHz in the outside of interface . Moreover, except integrated into DSP chip, the UTOPIA interface circuit can also be integrated into other systems as Asynchronous transmitting network conveniently and flexibly, or be used as the independent module, so the result of this thesis has a favorable application foreground.
