Assembly is the terminal in the manufacturing process of product, and is also the main course of function implementation. Assembly process planning is the important step for constituting the assembly process specification, which describes the assembly course and ensures the assembly quality and efficiency. Several aspects are deeply researched such as assembly modeling, subassembly indentification, and assembly process planning. The main achievements are described as follows:⑴In order to express the assembly information, the modeling method of assembly tree of hierarchy is analyzed, which is used to express the information of assembly hierarchy. In addition, the modeling method of relationship of assembly semanteme is described, so as to express the information of assembly relationship. On basis of these two models, a synthetic model based on hierarchy and relationship is proposed, which plays an important role in assembly analysis.⑵Correlation intensity is first introduced to represent the degree of tightness, and then the fuzzy clustering algorithm is used to achive the clusting of parts. Consequently the subassembly identification method is built. Furthermore, adopt the obstructing relationship to analyze the disassembly, so the rationality and accuracy of identification are improved. On basis of the effective identification, the complexity of assembly analysis is sharply reduced.⑶The CBR method is applied to the retrieve of assembly case, and the similarity algorithm of assembly is proposed at first. In addition, by combining revise and retain of case, the method for assembly process reuse is set up. As a result, the efficiency of assembly process planning is heavily enhanced.⑷In order to manage, storage, and reuse the data of assembly process effectively, the Assembly Process Database System is designed and developed based on the research achievements. And the engineering application of this system is accomplished primarily.
