The analysis of basic questions of waveguide edge slot array design has been done during the research and improved measures are proposed.Firstly, the characteristic of waveguide edge slot and the influence of mutual coupling between slots on the normalized active admittance of edge slot in array environment are analyzed. Formulas of calculating the active admittance of slot in array environment are deduced. By using Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS) the active admittance curves are obtained through simulation.Secondly, an improved design method of waveguide edge slot array in which the tilted angles of slots are considered has been studied. A linear edge slot array in Taylor distribution is designed and simulated. And the result shows good. Afterwards the limitation of this method is analyzed through simulation and a useful conclusion is drawn.In the end, the suppression of cross-polarization component of waveguide edge slot arrays is studied. An improved compact choke structure is proposed to suppress the cross-polarization component. The simulation result shows that the improved choke structure can satisfy the requirement of practice well.
