Waveguide slot array antenna is in accordance with certain requirements slotted composed of metal surfaces. With the rapid development of millimeter-wave technology,because of such an antenna with low profile, small size, light weight, high efficiency,low side easily, compact structure. So it is get widespread attention and widely used in all kinds of ground, naval, airborne and so on radar systems.This thesis concentrates on the design and manufacture of a W-band waveguide slot array antenna, the antenna requires a smaller size and a lower sidelobe, so that the antenna design and process have some difficulty in the W-band. In this paper, to proceed from the basic theory of waveguide slot array antenna, then, the main design process is described and carded. From the chapter Ⅰ to chapter Ⅱ are waveguide slot array antenna are antenna theory part. Introduced the waveguide slot array antenna research history, the current situation, development of waveguide slot antennas at home and abroad. Described theory of waveguide slot antenna radiation and several common forms of rectangular waveguide coupling. Deduced the different equivalent circuit model corresponding to the radiation slot corresponding to when it in resonant state and the relationship of active admittance of vertical slot in broad wall of rectangular waveguide, as well as the active impedance parameter of tilted slot in broad wall of rectangular. scanning parameters and design optimization of electromagnetic simulation software Ansoft HFSS is used to extract small array slot parameters. The simulation results better fits it’s design specifications, verified the feasibility of this approach.From the chapter Ⅲ to chapter Ⅵ this thesis focus on using electromagnetic simulation software Ansoft HFSS design waveguide slot array antenna. Mutual coupling among array antenna must be taken into consideration and resolution. We simulate mutual coupling actual environment among antenna slots through the establishment of a rectangular waveguide 1*8 linear array and 7*7 small array, scanning parameters and design optimization of electromagnetic simulation software Ansoft HFSS is used to extract small array slot parameters. The simulation results better fits it’s design specifications, verified the feasibility of this approach. by this method, our array antenna not only take into consideration the internal mutual coupling among antenna slots, but also the external coupling, then we can get meet our actual indicatorwaveguide slot array antenna. Finally a 3mm waveguide slot array antenna is designed,manufactured and tested. The measured results agree with the simulated results well.
