Slotted waveguide array antenna is featuring small dimension, light weight, compactstructure, high aperture efficiency and power capacity. The narrow-edge waveguideslotted antenna array have drawn more and more attention from different projects andengineering industry, which include airborne fire control radar and microwavecommunication systems and so on, as its features of low side lobe and even super sidelobe.This paper is based on a detailed analysis of the basic theory of slotted waveguidearray antenna and the research of designing slotted waveguide array antenna, and designstwo different slotted waveguide array antennas. It also summarizes the general designmethod of slotted waveguide array.First, according to the operating frequency of the antenna, the gain size and sidelobe level requirements,The broad-brimmed gap of slotted waveguide array ofstanding wave antenna is designed. Through the using of parameter sweep andoptimization capabilities in the high frequency modern electromagnetic simulationsoftware Ansoft-HFSS, the resonator gap of each gap is calculated. The specific model ofslot antenna was established in HFSS software be simulated. By simulated, thesimulation results meet the design requirements.Second, according to the operating frequency of the antenna, the gain size and thenumber of side lobe, the narrow-brimmed of slotted waveguide array of traveling waveantenna is designed. The main task is obtaining the conductivity distributions and theconductivity functions of the gap by HFSS. With the function of scanning optimization ofHFSS, the antenna is simulated. The results show that the low side lobe of antenna can beformed.Finally, it summarizes a general method of designing about the guide slot arrayantenna. Especially, the property and theory of the slotted waveguide array antenna isstudied in detailed. The difficulties and the key issues is how to design the physical sizeof the gap for realizing the selected aperture distribution. Through using the antenna comprehensive method and modern electromagnetic simulation software, the antenna isdesigned in HFSS to be simulated. By simulated, the results show that the narrow-edgewaveguide slotted antenna array has the feature of low side lobe. Meanwhile, the methodis feasible and correct.
