This paper bases on the traditional theory of waveguide slot array antenna,especially studies the property and the design method of the waveguide edge slot array,and analyses the suppression of cross-polarization component.In this paper, Utilizingthe Ansoft HFSS electromagnetic simulating software, the author analyses someimportant physical dimensions of the double-ridge waveguide, and gets the relationshipbetween double-ridge waveguide’s properties and the various parameters. The resultsshow that double-ridge waveguide compared to the rectangular waveguide with a lowercutoff frequency, a wider bandwidth and higher single-mode characteristic impedance.Then a thirty elements narrow wall waveguide slot array is synthesized by Taylormethod. With the function of scanning optimization of Ansoft HFSS electromagneticcomputing software, the apertures’ size can be synthesized according to simulations. Acomplete simulation model can be established to be simulated. The outcome shows thatthe double-ridge waveguide edge slot array has a high cross-polarization level. In theend, the suppression of cross-polarization component of waveguide edge slot arrays isstudied. A choke structure is used to suppress the cross polarization component, and thevalidity of the simulation is verified.
