The features of the modern communication network, such as complex structure, a large numbers of nodes, sweeping-use of wireless, make the key management more difficult, and are also a great challenge for traditional centralized key management scheme. Making use of coordinated computation and resource-sharing, the technology of distributed key management with the advantage of high efficiency and scalability is thought to be the answer.Based on analyzing the structure and the features on key management of the modern communication network, this dissertation researches on the essential problems, such as key management structure, key generation, in distributed peer-to-peer key management scheme, and then proposes a new one. Analysis and simulation are done to support the idea. The major contributions of this thesis include:(1)Propose a distributed key management structure based on clustering, and analyze the peer-to-peer key generation protocols of the structure. In this dissertation, the structure adopts the ideology of hierarchy and clustering, in which the variables are centralized deployed and the keys are generated by cooperation. It restricts the major cost in clus, and is better at structure.(2)Design two new distributed peer-to-peer key generation protocols. The proposed protocols are based on discrete logarithm and elliptical curve discrete logarithm respectively. In the cluster, the peer to peer keys are directly generated by the contribution of deployment knowledge, while between the clusters, the DH technology is adopted and the keys are generated by cooperation. The proposed structure avoids single point of failure, improves the efficiency of key management, and is also highly adaptive to frequent topology changes; The proposed protocols is brief at management, low in cost, and highly secure, are more suitable to large-scale network. It is an efficient way for key management in modern communication network by distribution. The protocols proposed in this dissertation are perfect for key management in the large-scale network with complicated structure and amount of wireless applications.
