Current Internet application systems are widely based on C/S model and lots of them are either lack of server side monitoring or only capable of maintaining single computer. These problems are invocated by complicate network conditions, huge amount of objects being managed, their various types and also lack of maintenance tools. This paper aims at centralized management and monitoring for distributed applications on the Internet. Our target is that administrators can be relieved from their management processes and can concentrate themselves on the management results.Firstly this paper studies the theory for management and monitoring that covers the development, current situation, definitions and functions. The functions of this system are remote management and monitoring. This paper analyzes the shortage of the current multi-object monitoring systems on the Internet, such as problems that management information can not be delivered and processing results can not be centralized. This paper focuses on how the information can be delivered and organized both effectively and timely between the administrators and their objects. In order to deliver effectively, we adopt the function layer that separates the command-sending from the result-receiving, the result-receiving from the processing, the processing from the terminal-display, while integrates the monitoring and the control into the same administration unit. By means of defining management protocols, the information is formatted and parameterized. Not only do we solve the original problems, but also promote the system scalability. In actual development, we chose Microsoft's .Net environment for coding main functions and implementation. Finally we discuss our future works.
