Web-Based System For Educational Administration And Teaching Quality Supervision In Tertiary Institutions

Informatization in tertiary institutions has become an important development strategy and meanwhile provides an indispensable support to enhance teaching, researching and managing process. With the progress of informatization advancing rapidly nowadays, the emphasis of work has been gradually transferred from network construction to the establishment of integrated comprehensive information platform as well as intelligentized and individualized web services. The current educational administration has been more and more dependent on Internet techniques. And it has become an inevitable task for tertiary institutions to realize informatization within campuses in the current knowledge economy. With educational reforms and quality orientated education being further carried out, and intensive expansions among tertiary institutions, there have been increasingly inadequate teaching resources. Therefore, it has become a focus of managerial and functional departments how to make full use of scarce teaching resources and handle the increasing information. Therefore, the construction of digitalized campus has been launched then speeded up among many colleges and universities, including the establishment and development of campus network, hardware platform, managerial system and single event managerial module.Recognizing the relative merits of the former information managerial system, and benefiting from years' experience in educational administration and some currently popular development tools and techniques, we can develop a Web-based system for educational administration and teaching quality supervision, which will be constructed based on campus network, C/S LAN and B/S WAN structure, which will also organically blend the process of administration and supervision. In the project, non-opening and opening functions can be performed on the LAN and the WAN respectively, and users can visit data base servers through the LAN. The system can ease the process of teaching quality supervision, relieve teaching management personnel of the taxing work, and simplify the job of both teachers and students by enabling the former to fill in examination results report more conveniently, and the latter to review on classes and select courses remotely through the LAN. In brief, it will be capable of improving the quality of supervision, making the course selecting process more flexible, and effectively reducing the lost resulting from faulty operation. Subsequent work will be done to make the functions of the system more complete and applicable, enabling it to better assist the work of educational administration and teaching quality supervision.From the result of tests and experiments, we can tell that the aim of the design has been achieved. The Web-based system for educational administration and teaching quality supervision is an easy and practical tool, so as to make itself highly worthy of popularizing and applying.
